Medical Guidance for Understanding What Your Case May Need Next

If you are thinking, “I’m confused. My loved one has cancer. Radiation was mentioned. What does this mean? What should I ask next?” — you are in the right place.

“I help patients and families understand what radiation may be used for, what questions to ask, what side effects to prepare for, and how to feel more grounded before the next oncology visit.”

Warm regards,
C.M. Williams, M.D.

Breast Cancer Questions | Gain Understanding

Breast Cancer Clarity Consult

Breast cancer treatment can come with many moving parts — surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, endocrine therapy, HER2-directed therapy, imaging, pathology results, margins, lymph nodes, recurrence risk, and timing decisions.

This consult is designed to help you slow the process down and understand what has been recommended, why radiation may or may not be part of your treatment plan, what side effects to prepare for, and what questions to ask before your next oncology visit.

The goal is not to replace your treating team, but to help you and your family feel more informed, organized, and grounded as you move through breast cancer treatment decisions.

Prostate Cancer Clarity Consult

Prostate cancer decisions can feel overwhelming because there may be several reasonable options — active surveillance, surgery, radiation, hormone therapy, brachytherapy, or a combination of treatments.

This consult helps men and their families understand what has been recommended, why radiation may be considered, what side effects to ask about, and how treatment choices may affect urinary, bowel, sexual, and hormonal health.

The goal is not to replace your treating physicians, but to help you gain understanding, organize your questions, and feel more prepared before your next oncology or urology visit.

Lung Cancer Questions? Gain Understanding

Lung Cancer Clarity Consult

Lung cancer care can move quickly, and patients are often asked to understand several important pieces at once — biopsy results, cancer type, stage, molecular testing, surgery options, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and the possible role of radiation.

This consult helps patients and families slow the information down, understand what has been recommended, and prepare better questions for the oncology team. We may discuss why radiation is being considered, how it may fit with other treatments, what side effects to ask about, and what information may still be needed before the next decision is made.

The goal is not to replace your treating physicians, but to help you gain understanding, feel more organized, and walk into the next visit with greater clarity.

Palliative Radiation Treatment Clarity Consult

Palliative radiation is often recommended when the goal is to relieve symptoms, improve comfort, or help protect quality of life — not necessarily because someone is at the very end of life. It may be used to help with pain, bleeding, pressure, breathing concerns, spinal cord compression risk, brain metastases, or other symptoms caused by cancer.

This consult helps patients and families understand why palliative radiation may be recommended, what it may realistically help, what side effects to ask about, and how it may fit with the larger care plan.
The goal is not to replace your oncology team, but to help your family gain understanding, organize questions, and feel more prepared for conversations about comfort, goals of care, timing, and next steps.
